AUSTIN (KXAN) - Four native Texans and one locally shot film were awarded Thursday as the newest additions to the Texas Film Hall of Fame.
The inductees at the Texas Film Hall of Fame threw its 13th annual soiree include Robin Wright, a Dallas native, who broke to fame in "The Princess Bride". Her director in that film, Rob Reiner, was on hand to induct his former star.
San Antonio's Henry Thomas, who will always be remembered as the imaginative boy who made a special friend in "E.T.", was also honored.
The other honorees include character actor Stephen Tobolosky of Dallas ("Groundhog Day", "Glee") and Houston's Annette O'Toole ("Smallville").
Austin director Richard Linklater, co-founder of the Austin Film Society, is being honored with the induction of his breakthrough film, 1993's "Dazed and Confused".
Linklater will be presented by Oscar winner Quentin Tarantino.
The award ceremony was held at Austin Studios, a 20-acre site with five studios. Movies filmed there include "Miss Congeniality", "Second Hand Lions", "Friday Night Lights", and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
