AUSTIN (KXAN) - Team Livestrong marathon runners fueled up Saturday morning at the foundation's headquarters in East Austin. They enjoyed brunch and an inspirational message from an Olympic para-athlete who will be competing in the Austin Marathon .

This year's race has drawn 20,000 runners. There are 450 members on Team Livestrong from 27 states and five countries.

Livestrong CEO Doug Ulman addressed the athletes Saturday who have helped raised $300,000 for the foundation. He did not hide the fact that it has been tough for Livestrong staff members and volunteers after their former leader and founder, Lance Armstrong, confessed to years of illegal doping.

"Their credibility has been questioned," said Ulman. "To watch what they have been through is frustrating."

Ulman also pointed out a Nike representative in the room, and said he was proud to announce Nike has "recommitted" to continue their partnership with Livestrong in the future.

The Austin Marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Tune into KXAN News Today for live coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 9 a.m.
