AUSTIN (KXAN) - The South By Southwest environment is notoriously full of alcohol.

This year, Austin Police said they arrested 211 people for driving while intoxicated during the festivals.

Of those 211, 22 had blood alcohol content of .15 or more. Another 22 were charged with their second DWI. Seven people were arrested for DWI with a child in the car.

EMS personnel also stayed busy during the festival.

From March 9-16, there were 381 emergency calls downtown. The previous Saturday-to-Saturday had 144 incidents. The change was a 164 percent increase.

Many of the calls involved alcohol, minor car accidents, and fights.
