Might have started as a bank robbery

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are on the scene of a SWAT situation on the city's northeast side on Friday afternoon.

Authorities were originally called out to a home in the area of Weatherford Drive and Fieldgate Drive around 3 p.m. for a possible barricaded subject inside the home.

Police believe this incident might be related to a bank robbery that occurred at the Austin Telco on Center Ridge around 2 p.m.  The bank is less than two miles away from the home on Weatherford.

Witnesses from the bank robbery were able to give officers enough information to lead them to the suspect vehicle.

The suspects' vehicle was located in the 1300 block of Weatherford Drive. Officers tried to make contact with the person(s) in the home but weren't able to, so SWAT was called out.

It is unknown if the subject(s) are actually in the home or not.

Update at 8:30 p.m.: The SWAT situation has ended and no one was inside the home.
