AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Police Department has filed charges against Kennet Haywood, 21, in the Friday stabbing death of Tyesha Taylor, 18.
The two women, who were roommates, got into an argument at about 1 p.m. at the Runnymede Apartments, according to APD Cpl. David Boyd.
An Austin-Travis County Emergency Services team found Taylor inside the apartment. Both women were taken to University Medical Center-Brackenridge for treatment, and Taylor died a short time later. Haywood suffered only minor injuries.
Haywood is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bond in Travis County Jail.
The victim was reportedly stabbed twice.
Homicide investigators remained on the scene through Friday afternoon behind yellow police tape that cordoned off much of a parking lot around Building 1127 at the complex. Investigators main focus was on a second-level apartment and on a walkway outside the front door to that unit.
