AUSTIN (KXAN) - Nearly four years after an 84-year-old man complained to police that he paid $1,800 for a paint job that was never done, police arrested the man accused of taking the money.

Enrique Mojica, 57, was taken into custody on Friday based on information from someone else claiming to have been targeted by the suspect.

According to an April 2009 police report, Mojica was given a check for materials to paint the 84-year-old man's house. The work was never completed and despite numerous attempts to get the money back, it was not returned to the victim, according to a statement from police.

Police believe other elderly people may have been targeted by Mojica.

Were you a target?

If so, you can file a police report by calling 3-1-1 or 512-974-5750. Anyone else with information regarding an incident where they believe Mojica is a suspect is encouraged to call 512-974-5584.

Mojica was charged with theft from elderly, a third-degree felony. He was arrested without incident in Austin while detectives were investigating the new claims against Mojica.

Detectives were able to track Mojica down after another elderly victim was able to provide license plate information to officers.

Police said Mojica was also using the alias Joe Marin.
