AUSTIN (KXAN) - While the emotional wounds from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will never fully heal for some individuals, the support from across the country has been astounding.

In Austin, the Austin Buddhist Center in Del Valle held a special Bodhi Puja and Pirith chanting for the children and teachers who died in the shooting.

"We want to do whatever we can to make their lives better, because as a Buddhist, we believe we can send our love and compassion to those who are affected," said Manoj Balasooriya, a member of the Austin Buddhist Center.

In Buddhist teachings, it is believed that we are all connected, no matter the religion.
