Space heater blamed for catching Christmas tree on fire

Damage totaled $1,400 in South Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A space heater was blamed for catching an artificial Christmas tree on Fire Monday.

The fire at 2646 Gwendolyn Lane in South Austin caused an estimated $400 worth of structural damage and $1,000 in damage to the house's contents. The fire, which started around 11:50 a.m., was confined to the living room.

Fire officials said the heater situated close to the tree.
