AUSTIN (KXAN) - It’s officially day-three for 2013 SXSW and Sunday a showcase called ShortCase honored non-SXSW short films.

Austin Film Society Make members gathered at the George Washington Carver Museum.

The turnout was so large; patrons had to be turned away.

ShortCase is part of SXSW's Community Screening program in which the festival brings in local organizations to showcase their work.

Filmmaker Erin Galey who lived in Austin but now resides in Washington state says the future of filmmaking in Texas is bright.

Her film, Brave Girl , focuses on human trafficking and was shot in Nepal.

The Director and Writer lived in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin for three years, she's excited to be in town and eager for others to see her film.

Shorts that are screened in ShortCase are not official selections of SXSW and are not entered into competition.

Galey also says she is thankful to the Austin Film Society for giving her the opportunity to showcase her talent.
