AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man and a woman were transported to the hospital after being shot in Northwest Austin on Thursday night.
Austin police originally responded to the shooting just after 10:30 p.m. in the 13600 block of U.S. 183, near Pond Springs Road.
When officers arrived at the Value Place Hotel, they found the man and his girlfriend with gunshot wounds. Initial information suggests the shooting happened at a home nearby and the shooting victims somehow ended up at the hotel.
A man at the hotel who asked that he not be identified by name said the man who had been shot drove up and asked to be taken to the hospital. A lot of blood covered the inside of the pickup truck, the man said. He declined to take the pair to the hospital, but instead called 911.
Austin Travis County EMS transported one man and one woman to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center. The female has potentially serious injuries -- it is not known where they were shot.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office, which took over the case because the actual location is in its jurisdiction, said on Friday that the man was released from the hospital. The woman, who is pregnant, remained hospitalized in critical condition.
