AUSTIN (KXAN) - Groundbreaking on the Decker Lake Road extension will take place at 10A Wednesday at a ceremony onsite at the intersection of FM973 and Decker Lake Road, as work begins on the new roadway connection to State Highway 130.
Extending from FM 973 to SH 130, Decker Lake Road is planned to be constructed as a four-lane divided medium roadway, through Indian Hills corporate and residential community.
Improvements are expected to be complete in early 2013.
“Expanding Decker Lake Road is a significant step in completing one of several of the County’s 2005 Bond Referendum Public-Private Partnership projects. It will also facilitate development consistent with the city of Austin’s " Imagine Austin " plan,” said Commissioner Ron Davis, “and our team is proud to celebrate the tremendous cooperative effort put forth by all three parties.”
The project accommodates all road users, including sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
Indian Hills is a planned 240-acre commercial/industrial/residential mixed-use development with direct frontage and access to SH 130 on the east boundary of the property, and frontage on FM 973 on the west boundary of the property.
Decker Lake Road, when completed, will provide internal access through the project.
The community will offer approximately 80 acres of multifamily for-rent homes and approximately 140 acres for light industrial, research and development, office and retail uses. Taurus of Texas Holdings is the developer for the Indian Hills project.
