AUSTIN (KXAN) - A registered sex offender has not been seen in two weeks, according to his father and the Texas Department of Public Safety, breaking state rules.
Listed as "absconded" is Augustine Rocha III, 32. His registered address is at his father's home in the 6400 block of Chesterfield Avenue in Austin.
A warrant for Rocha 's arrest has been issued, and he will be charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, a third-degree felony.
Texas law requires that sex offenders must register a change of address seven days before moving to another location. Rocha has not updated his address with the Austin Police Department, according to the warrant.
According to the DPS Sex Offender List, Rocha has gone by many variations of his name, including:
He was last known to be employed working as a laborer through MDT Personnel, located at 6601 N. Lamar Blvd.
Rocha was convicted of sexual assault on two children, ages 8 and 12, in 1996.
