Seton rolls out new mobile mammography
"The Big Pink Bus" debuts Friday

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Friday morning Seton Healthcare Systems will roll out a new mobile mammography bus: called "The Big Pink Bus."
It replaces Seton’s 10-year-old bus, which needed significant repairs and upgrades. Onboard, it had analog screening equipment which is older breast cancer-detection technology.
The new bus is 29 feet long, 13 feet tall and weighs in at a hefty 15 tons. It has both digital mammography and an exam room onboard.
These free services have been offered by Seton for 25 years – mainly serving the low-income community and those without health insurance.
Last year the older bus provided 2,013 mammograms.
A ceremony for the new bus will happen at 10:30 a.m. at Auditorium Shores.
