AUSTIN (KXAN) - Next Saturday, Feb. 9, Seton Healthcare Family will hold its 22nd Annual Mock Surgery & More, a free event primarily for children who can learn what really happens behind the doors of a hospital.
Dozens of Seton nurses, doctors and other employees demonstrate how to use some of the latest medical tools and kids get a chance to ask medical experts their questions. Last year, more than 2,000 people attended.
The primary goal is to alleviate children’s fear should they someday have to go to a hospital. Another goal is to introduce them to medical careers they may wish to pursue when they grow older.
Admission is free and free parking is available. The event will be at Clinical Education Center at Brackenridge, 1400 North Interstate 35.
