Services held for Ray Dell Galloway

Fought for affordable housing in east Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Funeral services were held Saturday for a pioneer who fought for affordable housing in east Austin.

Ray Dell Galloway passed away earlier this week...his service today at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Galloway and the late Congressman Jake Pickle fought segregation in the 1960's.

Galloway later worked to build and renovate 31 homes in the Robertson Hill area.

He died Monday at the age of 84....he is survived by his wife Ida.
