AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police have identified the man they believe is responsible for allegedly robbing four GameStops , one Subway restaurant and a Radio Shack all within a one-week time span last month.

With the help of the Albuquerque, N.M, Police Department, Austin police have been able to identify Christopher D. Perea, 27, as the man they believe committed this crime spree.

According to an arrest warrant for Perea, a detective with Albuquerque PD recognized the suspect from surveillance videos that Austin police had released.

The detective also said that his office was investigating a series of robberies in Albuquerque from the middle of May and ended just prior to the robberies in Austin. Perea had also been identified by victims in robberies that occurred in Albuquerque and one of the victims knew Perea personally, according to police.

While Perea hasn't been arrested, the last time an officer came in contact with him was on June 26 in Austin. An Austin police officer pulled Perea for a traffic stop on of the same day that a GameStop was robbed. The vehicle Perea was in had a New Mexico license plate and the officer even noticed an "air soft" handgun in the rear seat of the car -- which is similar to the handgun seen in the surveillance photos.

The last GameStop robbery in Austin was in North Austin on July 2 .

While Perea left Texas earlier this month, he quickly popped up on the radar of law enforcement in Colorado.

From July 8-11, Perea is suspected of robbing four businesses in Aurora, Colo., and police believe the same person was involved in four robberies in Denver.

Authorities in Colorado dubbed the whoever committed the robberies the "Waistline Bandit" because he simply walked in the business, raised his shirt and showed the gun tucked in the front of his waistline.

Anyone who knows of Perea whereabouts is asked to call the Robbery Tip Line at 512-974-5092, Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text “Tip 103” + your message to CRIMES. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if a tip leads to an arrest or charges being filed.
