AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Save Our Springs Alliance this marks its 20th anniversary as an environmental force in Austin.
"On August 8th 1992, Austin voters overwhelmingly approved the SOS Water Quality Ordinance," the alliance says on its website. "A few months later, SOS Coalition leaders incorporated the SOS Alliance to defend and advocate for the SOS Ordinance, Barton Springs, and the Edwards Aquifer ecosystem."
To mark the milestone, the alliance is holding a two-day celebration at several venues. Among the highlights is a screening of the 1993 documentary, "Common Ground: The Battle for Barton Springs."
