AUSTIN (KXAN) - City leaders in Austin showed off their skills on the water on Thursday.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Waller Creek Boathouse members of the Austin City Council and city Parks Department learned how to row out on Lady Bird Lake.
A member of the rowing club says the Council members did well. He said it was good to see how their work has helped rowers in Austin.
"Waller creek is a huge investment in the city's future and a huge investment in the residents of austin," said J. Noel Kvale, rowing coach.
The boathouse is one part of the Waller Creek restoration project.
This weekend there will be plenty of events around the boathouse.
On Saturday, there will be a rowing regatta out on the lake, and on Sunday there will be an open house.
