TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) - People gather to see the Taylor Jaycees handle snakes in their annual rattlesnake roundup, and it's not unusual to hear that one of the handlers ends up with a bite.

Mark Barron, one of the veteran snake handlers for the Taylor event, was bit during an afternoon demonstration at the annual event. His friend said he was doing a hands on demonstration when the rattlesnake turned and tagged Barron in the chest.

"It's happened two or three times before, so it's nothing to him," said his sacking partner James Cmerek.

Barron is recovering tonight at a hospital in Round Rock, undergoing anti-venom treatment.
