Purse-toting man robbing businesses

Two robberies in two days

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are looking for a man who is robbing businesses with a purse and a gun.

On Sunday, the man robbed the OM Food Mart in the 1400 block of East 12th Street just before midnight.

On Tuesday, he robbed the Doubletree Hotel on IH-35 near Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police said at both incidents the suspect entered the business, removed a gun from his purse and demanded money from the clerk.

No one was injured in either incident.

APD released video of the suspect from one of the robberies.

Suspect description:

  • White male
  • mid-20s to early 30s
  • 6 - 6'2"
  • long face, wears makeup

The suspect is believed to be driving a small to mid-sized red or maroon SUV, possibly a 2006-2009 Toyota Rav 4.
