AUSTIN (KXAN) - President Barack Obama will be in Austin next month to raise money for his re-election campaign.

The president will be joined by singer-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker at the Austin Music Hall at the 3 p.m. on July 17, the campaign website says.

Tickets for the event start at $250 for general admission and go up to $7,500 per couple who want to attend a photo reception.

The website made no mention of any public events.

Obama is considered a longshot to win Texas against likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. No Democratic presidential candidate has carried Texas since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
