AUSTIN (KXAN) - Power was restored after about two hours to customers north of Downtown who lost electricity when tree limbs fell on transmission lines Monday afternoon, Austin Energy said.

The outage had knocked out electricity for more than 2,500 customers in the West Avenue, 11th Street and Lamar Boulevard.

The power went out in the area around 1:30 p.m. and repair crews found fallen tree limbs on power lines which caused the outage, Austin Energy said.

According to Austin Energy, the power was fully restored to all customers affected by the power outage in the West Avenue, West 11th Street and Lamar Boulevard area.

Police said due to the downed power lines there will be significant traffic delays on North Lamar from 29th to 24th Streets while city crews work on clearing it. Only one lane will be open southbound till at least 5:30 p.m. and they advise taking alternative routes.
