AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are searching for two men responsible for four armed robberies in North Austin parking lots.

Robbery detectives with the Austin police department said the robberies happened Monday between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in the Rundberg Lane area.

"The targets, lately, have been Hispanic male and females," said Austin Police Department Detective Roger Boudreau. "We want to make sure people are aware of their surroundings. When they get out of the car, make sure they look around before they get out. Park in a well-lit area."

Three of the incidents happened in apartment complex parking lots, but a fourth was in the parking lot of a North Austin Walmart.

"They could get more aggressive," said Boudreau. "They put the gun into the victim's head and demand the money, so we want to make sure we can get these people caught and off the street."

Police have released a surveillance photo of a man they consider a person of interest in the case.

They describe the suspects as two black men in their 20s or 30s, between 5 feet 8 inches- and 5 feet 11 inches tall. Victims describe them wearing dark, hoodie-style sweatshirts during the attacks.

"I'm always aware of what's going on around here, but now that I know that, I'll be keeping an extra sharp eye out," said William Lord, who lives in the area where the attacks happened.

Lord said despite an increased police presence , and recently installed surveillance cameras, crime continues to plague his neighborhood.

"We've already got a lot of police presence out here," said Lord. "I don't know what else they can do."

Where the robberies happened:

  • 1030 Norwood Park Boulevard at 8 p.m.
  • 9200 North Plaza at 8:49 p.m.
  • 9601 Middle Fiskville Road at 9:03 p.m.
  • 1007 E. Rundberg Lane at 11:23 p.m.
