AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man was in jail after allegedly selling a car he drove off the lot without paying for, in exchange for two crack rocks.

According to an arrest affidavit released Monday, Carlos Sergio Valdes, 51, posed as a potential car buyer at Henna Chevrolet.

He asked to take the vehicle for a test drive in the parking lot but instead left without permission in a 2013 Chevy Tahoe valued at over $40,000.

Valdes claimed he was lost after having the car for over two-hours and ending up on Sam Rayburn, according to the affidavit. Valdes called police saying he was robbed and the vehicle was taken from him, the document said.

In a statement given to police, Christina Jones, who was later stopped by police, said Valdes sold her the vehicle for two crack rocks.

Valdes ws being held in the Travis County Jail under an $80,000 bond.
