AUSTIN (KAN) - Austin police were called to the scene of a deadly stabbing in Northwest Austin on Tuesday night.

According to authorities, a woman called 9-1-1 around 7:45 p.m. stating that someone had been stabbed in the 12800 block of Turtle Rock Road.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they found the victim outside on the ground, but believe an altercation happened inside one of the units.

The victim was identified late Wednesday as Cory Burns, 19. Burns died enroute to the hospital that night.

Arrested and charged with first-degree murder is Annette Valdez, 28. She is being held in Williamson County Jail on $850,000 bond. Police said she and Burns were girlfriend and boyfriend.

Valdez has a long record of run-ins with the law, according to public records. Most of the cases involved public intoxication or driving while intoxicated. She pleaded guilty twice to assaulting a family member.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Austin Police Department Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text "Tip 103" plus your message to CRIMES.
