Man dead; shooter at large in North Travis County

AUSTIN (KXAN) - One man is dead and the killer remains at large after a shooting Monday morning at an auto finance store in North Travis County.

According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, a man entered the Auto and Finance at 1524 West Howard Lane just off Interstate 35 around 9 a.m. and shot a 37-year-old man. The victim, an employee, was taken to a Round Rock Hospital, where he died.

Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lisa Block says a female employee was also in the business at the time. She as not injured in the shooting but was taken to the hospital because she was not feeling well.

Block also says the suspected shooter knew the victim and also knows the woman.

People at neighboring businesses tell KXAN the shooting comes as a surprise to them.

 "I've been here three years, and this is the worst thing that has happened," said Sergio Camacho, who runs a tire shop across from the were the shooting happened, "This is a good neighborhood."

Investigators are examining surveillance video from convenience store just behind the car sales business. The store's cameras captured a man running along the fence line behind the store where the shooting happened. He then drove away  in a white car.
