AUSTIN (KXAN) - After man was arrested on a charge of exposing himself to two teenage girls near Lanier High School on Aug. 1, police linked him to a sexual assault case that occurred in June at an Austin elementary school.
Police said that on June 12, Ryan Shannon Gebhard, a former registered sex offender, had exposed himself to a woman who was using the track at Barrington Elementary School. According to a police affidavit released Monday, he then chased the woman and knocked her down.
The victim was able to kick her attacker and escape.
Just a few weeks later, according to the affidavit, AISD police caught Gebhard exposing himself on the campus of Lanier High School in front of two girls and immediately took him into custody, the arrest affidavit said. Gebhard was charged with indecent exposure and indecency with a child, police said.
AISD police detective, Zac Gorbet, said the suspect fit the description the victim gave of the man who attacked her at Barrington Elementary School in June.
After police interviewed Gebhard, he admitted to exposing himself and attacking the woman a Barrington Elementary School.
According to his arrest affidavit, Gebhard is in the Travis County Jail and charged with attempted sexual assault, a third-degree felony.
Police said he lives across the street from Barrington Elementary School and was previously registered as a sex offender.
His bond is set at $20,000.
