AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man with DWI and aggravated assault after a wreck that left another man's head crushed.

Police said Misael Vallegas ran over a man’s head before then driving off Sunday night.

The call came in at 9:49 p.m. as an EMS traffic injury at 10601 North Lamar Blvd . Police had no other details but said they questioned witnesses.

As of 4:30 a.m. Monday, the man -- described as having "massive head trauma" -- is still alive.
