AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin City Council on Thursday delayed action on a plan that would allow paid lobbyists to serve the city's Land Development Code advisory group.
The proposal drew vocal opposition from some civic organizations over concerns that developers would be essentially writing the rules they would have to work under.
Supporters, including Mayor Lee Leffingwell, said input from industry would give the panel much-needed expertise as the city plans future development projects.
Council members Sheryl Cole and Bill Spellman are also backing the measure.
