PETA offers reward for dog Petco lost

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Reuniting a dog lost by groomers at the Petco in Tech Ridge with her owner could put cash in your pocket.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals , or PETA, is offering $1,000 to anyone who finds Dolly.

The three-year-old retriever mix went missing on May 8.  Her owner Joseph Cho dropped her off to be groomed and when he returned he was told his dog somehow got loose and ran into the field behind the store .

Despite hours of searching, Dolly was not found.

Cho plastered the area with hundreds of fliers and is offering a $250 reward .  Petco is also offering a monetary reward.

"I just want to bring my dog home," said Cho.

On Wednesday, Cho spent his day at Walnut Creek Park looking for Dolly.  Tips have been pouring in and a couple called to tell him they spotted a dog that looked like her.

Armed with more fliers, Cho approached cyclists and asked them to look out on the trails for his dog.   He also left bags of food and toys scented with his cologne in various places. 

"If I get a tip I am on it," Cho added.

He also drives through the park before work in the morning and after work.  Strangers are also coming to the area to help look for Dolly.

Dolly is micro-chipped.  However, because she was being groomed when she got loose, her collar with Cho's contact information was not on her. 

Anyone who sees Dolly or knows of her whereabouts is urged to get in contact with Cho at 512.850.9294.

He wants people to know Dolly does not bite and will come if you call her.

Cho said Petco workers have yet to call and apologize and despite his lawyer asking to see surveillance video of his dog running away, they have not handed it over.
