AUSTIN (KXAN) - One woman is dead after an apparent argument turned into a stabbing at the Runnymede Apartments on Friday afternoon.

Austin Police Corporal David Boyd said there had been a fight between two female roommates. Both were taken to University Medical Center-Brackenridge for treatment. One died a short time later, and the other had minor injuries.

An Austin-Travis County Medical Services team responded to the report of a stabbing in the 1100 block of Rutland Drive just after 1 p.m.

Officials said shortly after 2 p.m. that the victim had died.

The victim was reportedly stabbed twice. No ages or names were released at the scene. No charges had been brought as of Friday evening, with police only labeling the incident as a suspicious death.

Homicide investigators remained on the scene through Friday afternoon behind yellow police tape that cordoned off much of a parking lot around Building 1127 at the complex. Investigators main focus was on a second-level apartment and on a walkway outside the front door to that unit.
