AUSTIN (KXAN) - Watch out California, Texas' eyes are upon you.

Gov. Rick Perry is flying west on Sunday to visit San Francisco, the Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Orange County, all in a bid to lure more California businesses to Texas.

Over the past decade, two million Californians have fled their state with Texas being their top destination.

Austin native Joshua Trevino with the Texas Public Policy Foundation tried California for a few years, but decided to come home.

"It is over taxation, inefficient government, too much regulation. It's too difficult for entrepreneurs to get things done in California," he said.

Californians pay 10.6 percent of their income on state and local taxes, which is above the national average of 9.8 percent. Texans pay 7.9 percent.

In addition, California has 252 bureaucrats per ten thousand people, while Texas has 196 per ten thousand.

The governor's office recently took out a one-week, $24,000 radio buy in California , to push the message that Texas is a better place to start companies, due to lower taxes and higher job creation numbers.
