AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man was rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a car in northwest Austin on Friday night.

Police said the accident happened just before 8 p.m. in the northbound frontage road of the 13000 block of US Highway 183 , just north of McNeil Road.

Preliminary reports indicate the pedestrian might have been directing traffic around a stalled vehicle when he was struck. The driver stayed at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. There was a second person injured but unsure if the second person was also a pedestrian.
