Pedestrian hit and killed on MoPac

Southbound lanes were closed during investigation

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Southbound lanes of North MoPac near 45th Street were closed for several hours Wednesday night while Austin police investigated a deadly car wreck involving a pedestrian.  

Police said the accident happened just after 8 p.m.

Initial investigation indicates Joseph Thebado, 51, was trying to run eastbound across the southbound lanes when a driver hit and killed him.

The driver did stay at the scene of the accident. Police said no charges are expected to be filed.

The 45th Street ramp to southbound MoPac was also closed after the accident.
