Pedestrian killed in South Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police say a man hit by a car crossing the street died in the hospital overnight.

The 37-year-old stepped out onto the street around 9:00 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of South First Street and St. Elmo Road.

The pedestrian was rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life threatening injures. Police say he passed away from his injuries around 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police say it is unclear if the man was using the crosswalk.
