AUSTIN (KXAN) - One person is dead after a one-car collision just before midnight Saturday night at the 8600 block of North Lamar Boulevard.

Traffic was shut down in both directions shortly after the accident as police investigated the accident. They did not say if the victim was a man or woman.

No one witness the accident, but police say the victim lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

When officers arrived on scene, the occupant had already died.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
