AUSTIN (KXAN) - A Travis County grand jury has decided not to pursue legal action against three officers involved in the questioning of Mark Norwood.

That means Officers Angel Hernandez, Mark Gilchrest and Ron Lara of Austin's cold-case unit will not be prosecuted for their manner of questioning Norwood in the 1988 killing of Austin resident Debra Baker.

Norwood is suspected of killing Christine Morton in 1986. Her husband, Michael Morton, was wrongly convicted and spent 25 years in prison before DNA evidence cleared his name last year.

Norwood also is the prime suspect in the long unsolved Baker case.
