AUSTIN (KXAN) - An officer with the Austin Police Department is serving his one day suspension after his gun accidentally went off last month.
In a statement, Chief of Police Art Acevedo said on Oct. 9 Detective Michael Zeniecki was getting ready for work in the station’s locker room when his gun discharged. No one was hurt, but Zeniecki was temporarily suspended.
Acevedo said the detective violated the departments policy on safe handling of firearms. Zeniecki served his one day suspension on Thursday.
