AUSTIN (KXAN) - An Austin police officer who did not adhere to the department's pursuit policies during an incident in August was given a one-day suspension by Chief Art Acevedo.

According to a memo dated Nov. 29, Officer Hector Campos was in pursuit of a vehicle in North Austin on Aug. 8 when he ran though several traffic signals and stop signs without following proper precaution.

The pursuit took place in the area of Rutland Drive and Mountain Quail Road, which is north of U.S. 183 and east of MoPac Boulevard.

The memo did not say why the officer was giving chase.
