AUSTIN (KXAN) - A tent city set up by people with Occupy Austin has been taken down by police.

Protestors pitched tents on abandoned property on Saint Elmo Road near South Congress Avenue Thursday morning. There were no arrests made.

The tent cities spotlight the amount of unused land in town at a time when the homeless population is growing.

Three people were arrested as demonstrators marched from Highland Mall to an abandoned Home Depot where they set up the first tent city.
