AUSTIN (KXAN) - Predictably, Democratic strategist Jason Stanford basked in the re-election of President Barack Obama, saying on KXAN News on Tuesday night that it would take an industrial-strength cleaner "to wipe the smile" off his face.
On the Republican side, former Texas GOP chief Tom Pauken was more subdued, wondering if his party had lost the bond to the American middle class that Ronald Reagan forged a generation ago.
Both agreed in a conversation KXAN's Shannon Wolfson that Obama's victory would likely have repercussions on the Texas political landscape. Pauken suggested that if Gov. Rick Perry still harbors White House ambitions, he'd likely seek another term in Texas to prove that he still has vote-getting ability at home.
