AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police report that Saturday night's no-refusal initiative netted 18 people.
This is at least the third year that Austin Police Department has implemented "no refusal" for Mardi Gras. Last night, 18 people were picked up for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Of those arrests, 5 submitted to breath tests, 2 gave consent blood draws and 11 gave blood samples under a mandatory search warrant.
No refusal will return on Tuesday night for Fat Tuesday.
