AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin food-trailer lovers will soon have to go hunting for some of their area favorite places to eat.
The owners of the trailers at the corner of West Second Street and Congress Avenue were given notice that they must leave the parking lot by June 10.
A new 1,000-room J.W. Marriot Hotel is set to break ground on the site
Trailers that will be affected include Snap Kitchen’s Pod, Kebabalicious, Turf N’ Surf Po Boy, The Belgian Waffle Co., Roppolo’s Pizza, Patika Coffee and Chi’Lantro.
Owners of the trailers were aware that they would need to relocate as soon as the hotel’s financing came through, but did not know exactly when that date would be. Now they are on the search to find another location as soon as possible.
Snap Kitchen has started by turning to the community for help. Their “Save Snap Pod” campaign is asking people to send ideas on where a possible new location could be.
The trailers have about two and a half weeks left at their current location.
