AUSTIN (KXAN) - Hundreds of people burned the midnight oil to jam out to free performances at the annual KGSR's SXSW Live Broadcast at the W Austin Hotel on Thursday morning.

Music fans started lining up at the door around 3 a.m., and the line wrapped around the hotel as people waited for the free concert to start at 6 a.m.

"I was here yesterday with my children. And I did not go to bed tonight because I went to a concert last night, and I decided to stay up and wait in line since about 3:30 this morning," said Alissa Podber.

Music lovers have made this a must-go-to event during SXSW.  The concert series started on Wednesday morning and continues through Saturday.

Every 30 minutes, a different band will perform. Then, KGSR on-air personalities Langer, Kristen Kurtis and Kelly Jordan interview some of the band members.

"You know what, I think this is the most fabulous event," said Podber. "I look forward to SXSW every year. It is fun. You really don't need the badges. There are so many wonderful free shows you can go to, and this is a perfect example."

People don't have to pay to go, but there is a $5 donation for Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas.
