AUSTIN (KXAN) - A motorcyclist had to have his left foot amputated after the driver in a dump truck crashed into him and never stopped.

Authorities are looking for the driver of the dump truck.

Travis County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened on Friday around 6:40 a.m. on FM 973, between Burleson Road and FM 812.

The motorcyclist in the wreck was heading south on FM 973 and was side-swiped by a white, three-axel dump truck, similar to the one shown in the picture.

The dump truck was traveling northbound on FM 973 heading toward the Del Valle Correctional Complex.

The motorcyclist suffered serious foot and hand injuries, which ended up with his foot amputated.

If you have any information, please call Deputy Paul Cossette with the Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Office at 512-854-4321.
