AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are investigating an accident that seriously injured a motorcyclist downtown on Sunday.
Police say a car hit the driver of a motorcycle near the intersection of 47th and Red River shortly after 4:00 p.m.
Red River had been blocked as they investigated the incident but has since been reopened. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
No word on what caused the crash or whether charges will be filed.
The driver of the vehicle stayed to render aide. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
Police say two other accident involving motorcyclists are being investigated as well. One in the 1500 block of Newton with minor injuries, another in the 2100 block of N Lamar where police had few details to release.
The Sunday incidents come just a few hours after a fatal motorcycle accident on Saturday. An unidentified 38-year-old man lost his life around 5 p.m. in that accident.
Austin police said two men were riding their motorcycles down the street, trying to do tricks. That's when one of the bikers popped a wheelie and crashed into a light pole, killing him instantly.
