AUSTIN (KXAN) - The owner of Manny's Uptown Kitchen, also known as Manny Hattan's New York Delicatessen, announced Tuesday that the restaurant will close.

Aaron Mayers opened the restaurant at 9503 Research Blvd . in 2002, wanting to bring authentic New York delicatessen-type food to Austin.

Manny's now goes the way of Katz's Deli, housed for years on Sixth Street, which closed last year.

The Mayers family and Manny's have played a role in working within the Austin community, helping with many school and religious fundraisers, Habitat for Humanity, the Jewish Community, the American Diabetes Association, playing a major role in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.

Manny's will remain open just for lunch Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Mayers invites the community to come by and have one last Reuben sandwich and say hello.
