AUSTIN (KXAN) - An alleged carjacking suspect ended up driving himself to the hospital on Monday night after he got into an accident in the vehicle he stole.

Police said the suspect stole a Crown Victoria from an individual at 5:49 p.m. in the 2200 block of Burton Drive.  Authorities said he did not display a weapon during the robbery.

Several minutes after he stole the vehicle, the suspect ran into another vehicle.

The suspect ended up driving himself to University Medical Center Brackenridge at 5:57 p.m. A spokesperson for the hospital said the suspect got really close to hitting one of the glass panes but did not actually do any damage to the building.

Police said the suspect is in custody but currently being treated for a head injury.
