AUSTIN (KXAN) - Traffic on Interstate 35 south of Downtown Austin was diverted off the freeway Tuesday morning because someone had climbed out on the sign scaffolding.
The man was later taken into police custody and traffic was reopened after 10 a.m.
It was unclear why the man climbed to the scaffolding near the Oltorf Road exit. But authorities needed a crane to get him down.
His name was not immediately available.
The emergency call was logged around 8:30 a.m. and backed up traffic in both directions.
