AUSTIN(KXAN) - A man has been charged with forgery after police say he was found with counterfeit money and a mobile counterfeiting "plant" in his vehicle.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit released Tuesday, police responded to a report that a man was following a woman and was trying to sell her stolen electronics. When police arrived they found 27-year-old Sean McNerthney where the woman said he was.

After being detained, police searched his vehicle and found a laptop that had been reported stolen two days earlier, along with numbers printing accessories and one sided counterfeit $20 bills. Police say they also found numerous ID cards belonging to other people and over $1,500 in counterfeit money.

According to the affidavit, McNerthey had stolen the laptop from a man who was helping him out by letting him stay with him until he got on his feet. Police say he was using the stolen laptop and the printers to make counterfeit money to buy electronics off of an online site from unsuspecting sellers taking the cash.

McNerthey is being charged with forgery, which is a third-degree felony and is being held on $15,000 bond.
